Apply to View a File at the Israel Inheritance Registrar
Any party interested in the estate of the deceased may submit an application to view a file at the Inheritance Registrar. The application must be in regard to a file that was opened about an estate.
It is important to detail in the application the reason that the applicant wishes to view the file along with the connection between the applicant and the deceased. The relevant application fee must be paid, and a confirmation of payment must be attached to the application (even if paid on the internet). (See our articles discussing the various fees for inheritance issues and how to pay the fees.)
What Happens after the Application Is Submitted
After submitting the application to view the file, it is sent to the registrar for review and approval. In the event that approval is granted to view the file, the applicant (or the applicant’s representative) will be invited to view the file during public office hours.
Viewing the File
The applicant or the applicant’s representative must present an identification card when they arrive to view the file, and the identity card must be deposited until the applicant has finished viewing the file. It is not possible to take the file from the registrar’s office. The applicant is, however, given the opportunity to make copies of documents from the file at the registrar secretary’s desk.
